“Generation Talk: ความสุข ความฝัน และแรงบันดาลใจเมื่อพนักงาน ＝ คน”
Understanding and taking care of employees’ motivation have always been a crucial task for organizational success, and this task is getting more difficult with the increasing mixture of generations in the workforce.
On 26th May 2022, Asian Identity organized a short talk session under the topic of “Generation Talk”. This time we have our senior consultants and consultant: Mr. Chayot Pornpattarakan, Mr. Ryo Fujioka, and Ms. Pakwan Tadyanukul, as speakers; and Ms. Thiranart Napapruekchart, our senior consultant, as the session moderator.
Representing generation X and Y, the speakers shared insights and their perceptions toward work; from a very personal topics like their childhood dream and happiness in work to a more general topics like their opinions toward work policies and ideas on how companies can prevent employee’s burnout.
Despite the individual differences, the sharing from our consultants suggests that generation X’s motivation is weighted more toward Hygiene factors (e.g., pay, working conditions, security) due to their increasing responsibilities in life and concerns for their health while generation Y’s motivation is more weighted toward Motivator factors (e.g., meaning in work and personal growth).
And to see if the employee’ motivation level is in a healthy level, our consultants suggest conducting engagement survey periodically and conducting a regular 1-on-1 talk between superior and subordinate.
