“How can we find opportunities in difficult situations?”
Facing Covid-19, we are living in a rapidly changing and uncertain world. Therefore, we believe it is essential for everyone to have the skills to identify new business opportunities amid difficult situations. On 23rd September 2021, Asian Identity organized a one-hour webinar where Mr. Katsuhiro Nakamura, Asian Identity’s CEO, introduced thinking frameworks that will allow people to think out of the box, namely Disruptive Thinking and Analogy Thinking.
The key to creating new business in an unpredictable era is to use ‘Thinking’ rather than relying solely on one’s ‘Knowledge’. The first step to ‘Disruptive Thinking’ is to learn to imagine and think on the flip side of what is considered as normal or opposite of what already exists. On the other hand, ‘Analogy Thinking’ involves borrowing ideas from a different world by seeing the similarity and applying it to your business. The key to create an innovative idea here is to borrow ideas from a very far and different area (e.g., applying conveyor system to Kaiten-sushi).
Mr. Katsuhiro Nakamura also highlighted that due to technological development, changes are happening faster and faster, changing exponentially. That’s why to survive in this turbulent society, we have to think flexibly, anticipate the change, and plan ahead, continuing to make necessary adjustment to the vision, business models and strategies.
