Wish your new and young staffs can work more professionally? How about providing an instructive manga (Japanese cartoon) and workshop for them?
ROHM Semiconductor (Thailand) Co.,Ltd is a Japanese semiconductor and electrical parts manufacturing company. To our introduction of instructive manga, “Su Su Pim!”, HR team of ROHM showed a strong interest, and we decided to conduct a workshop for their young staffs.
“Su Su Pim!” (“Good luck, Miss. Pim!” in Thai) is a manga created by Asian Identity to provide a fun learning about fundamental business mindset such as professionalism, teamwork, and task management. By reading how Miss. Pim, a fresh graduate girl who just stared working, makes many mistakes but gradually grows up to be a professional, readers can learn tips that they can adapt to their work.
To enhance learning from “Su Su Pim!”, we conducted a 1 day workshop for 24 young staffs of RHOM. With its’ aim of enabling young staffs to work as professionals, we selected 3 topics from “Su Su Pim!”; teamwork (importance of sharing information and goals), professionalism (being responsible and take actions for best result), and customer first (think and act with the clients’ point of view).
Considering the generation of the participants (mostly in their 20’s), we constructed our workshop to be fun and interactive atmosphere by games and activities. All of the games and activities are not only for fun but also for learning. Our senior consultant, Ms. Thiranart, led the participants for realizing hidden important factors, self-reflection, and discussions that enables them to adapt learning to their actual work.
At the beginning, participants came to the workshop with somewhat nervousness, because some of the participants met each other for the first time. But at the end of the day, they built strong teamwork and motivated work together with initiative. We also had aimed this friendship across departments, because teamwork is beneficial and crucial key for success.
After 7months of this passionate workshop, we conducted 2nd workshop. In this workshop, we focused on the other topics from “Su Su pim”; task management (set up schedule, priority, and share them with others), motivation (see things in different perspective and take initiative), and identity (importance of self-reflection and longtime career development). After recalling what participants had learned in the first workshop, we put our energy on another 1 day workshop, so that participants are ready to become seniors who are expected to understand themselves and raising new juniors.
Again, workshop went well with highly motivated participants, but their journey will not end here. We are planning to have another workshop for raising their problem solving skill. Journey of learning to be a professional never ends no matter how many years you are working, but Asian Identity is here to help you at any stage.
