News, Our Works
In many organizations, meetings are an essential part of daily operations.
However, they often fail to produce effective outcomes due to issues such as participants hesitating to share their opinions, discussions being dominated by only a few individuals, limiting diverse perspectives, and lengthy, unstructured conversations that fail to reach clear conclusions or concrete actions. Hence, developing the right meeting facilitation skills is becoming more and more important.
To strengthen and enhance these skills, GS Yuasa Asia Technical Center Limited (GYAT) entrusted Asian Identity to conduct a “Meeting Facilitation Skills Workshop.”
GYAT is a company that conducts research, design, and technical support for the manufacture of lead-acid batteries for automobiles and motorcycles, mainly in ASEAN and surrounding areas.
This workshop fosters a new understanding of the “meeting leader’s role,” emphasizing that truly effective meetings are not driven by how much the leader “talks,” but by their ability to “listen” and “engage everyone.” To put this mindset into practice, participants learned the 4-step IAOC framework (Initiate – Activate – Organize – Conclude) for leading productive and collaborative meetings.
In the Initiate part, participants learned that pre-meeting preparation is a crucial step for ensuring a smooth and productive meeting. This includes defining clear objectives, communicating with stakeholders in advance, preparing relevant materials, and identifying potential challenges to avoid during the meeting.
In the Activate part, participants practiced key facilitation skills such as questioning, active listening, and sincere communication to build an open and engaging atmosphere, encouraging all members to share their views and exchange ideas constructively.

Finally, in the Organize and Conclude parts, participants practiced structuring discussions systematically, aligning perspectives to build a shared vision, and guiding the team toward quality decision-making. They also learned how to conclude meetings effectively by confirming mutual understanding and agreement on future actions.
Throughout the workshop, participants practiced through hands-on simulations, applied facilitation skills in action, and received real-time feedback from facilitators to help them apply the techniques in real-world meetings.
Voices from Participants
“The four principles (IAOC) for conducting meetings are very useful and can be practically applied.”
“The role-playing activity helped me practice in situations that were close to real ones, and I was able to apply what I learned to my actual work”
“The ‘Initiate’ topic was very good because it helped me define the expected outcomes and the situations I wanted to avoid, which are often overlooked when preparing for meetings.”
“The content about ‘listening before judging’ was very useful because it encouraged other participants to express their opinions openly.”
Asian Identity would like to express our sincere gratitude to GYAT for trusting us to be a part of developing the team’s potential. We truly hope that the knowledge and experience gained from this workshop will help make every future meeting at GYAT filled with the power of communication, collaboration, and genuine creativity.
Effective meetings are key to driving results, but they start with the right facilitation skills.
